Ethical & Responsible Use

Just because you can use AI to do something, doesn't mean you should. As these tools become common, we need to decide how to use them with integrity.

1. Transparency

If you use AI to write a report, an article, or a school paper, be honest about it.

  • Good: "I used AI to help brainstorm ideas, but I wrote the final draft."
  • Bad: Turning in AI work and pretending it is 100% yours.

2. Human Connection

Don't automate things that require empathy.

  • Avoid: Using AI to write an apology letter or a condolence message.
  • Why: The value of those messages is that you felt them and wrote them. If a machine writes it, the human connection is lost.

3. Impact on Others

Consider how your use of AI affects people.

  • Generating images in the style of a working artist without credit?
  • Creating content that spreads misinformation?
  • Rule of Thumb: Use AI to create value, not to deceive or undercut others.

The "Human in the Loop"

The best way to use AI ethically is to always keep a "Human in the Loop."

  • AI can draft; Human must edit.
  • AI can suggest; Human must decide.
  • AI can analyze; Human must empathize.

You are responsible for the output. Never give up your creative control or your moral judgment to a machine.
